Ageing research (transport planning and fall prevention)
Thu 17th Nov 2016
Professor Ivers will talk about innovative trials in ageing currently underway at the George Institute. This includes Behind the Wheel, a randomised trial evaluating the safety benefits of a transport planning program which is designed to help older drivers make timely and appropriate decisions about driving. Importantly, the program integrates the concepts of safety with mobility and encourages use of alternate forms of transport. She will also talk about development and piloting of a fall prevention program for older Indigenous people. Development of the program involved review of services audits, Yarning Circles with community elders and strong Indigenous governance.
