Living Longer, Working Longer: What does this mean for jobs in Wales? - Swansea

Thu 25th Oct 2018

Grand Theatre Rear Studio, Singleton Street, Swansea SA1 3QJ 5.00 pm - 7.00 pm

Living longer, working longer is an event being run by CADR (the Centre for Ageing and Dementia Research) in partnership with Ageing Well in Wales to identify the key issues affecting older workers in Wales.

We want to talk to a wide range of older people across Wales, asking them about their experience of working, looking for work, self-employment and retirement planning. We want to learn about the barriers, obstacles or discrimination that they face, as well as any positive changes made to jobs and workplaces that support older workers.

We are running a series of listening events around Wales this autumn. Anyone aged over 50 is welcome to take part, though we are particularly interested to hear from:

  • People who have recently returned to work after a period of not working.
  • People who are currently looking for work or to change jobs.
  • People who have set up their own business in later life.
  • People who have worked for a long time in the same occupation or industry.

The findings of the events will be shared with everyone who attends, as well as being used to inform future research and policy.

There will also an opportunity for people to stay involved in this research as it develops.
