Older people and electrical safety at home: what do we know in Wales?
“Taking research that step further ... exploring avenues for impact”
A recent study commissioned by Electrical Safety First (ESF) which looks at electrical safety issues in Wales for older people living at home shows that they are significantly affected by domestic fires, and that people aged 80+ are much more likely than other age groups to be a casualty in an electrical fire, or to die as a result of an accident caused by an electrical fuel source. How can these and other findings from the Report help inform the work of policy makers, practitioners and service providers in Wales or beyond in promoting the safety and wellbeing of older people at home? We are pleased to invite you to a seminar on this topic, with key panel speakers including Robert Jervis-Gibbons of ESF and Drs. Sarah Hillcoat-Nallétamby and Alexandra Sardani of Swansea University's Centre for Innovative Ageing (CIA) / Centre for Ageing and Dementia Research (CADR).
